Aer Lingus Offers to Meet Pilots to Avert Industrial Action

15,000 Passengers Affected as Aer Lingus Cancels 120 Flights Due to Pilots’ Strike

Hospital Aer Lingus has confirmed the cancellation of 120 flights on Saturday, June 29, due to an eight-hour pilots’ strike, affecting 15,000 passengers.

The disruption will impact short-haul services to and from Ireland, while long-haul services on June 29 and June 30 have been re-timed to avoid cancellations.

Affected passengers will be rebooked on alternative flights where possible. All customers will receive email notifications with options including free flight changes, refunds, or vouchers. Details of the cancelled flights are available on the Aer Lingus website.

The strike, scheduled from 5 am to 1 pm on June 29, follows an escalation in the dispute between Aer Lingus and the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA). This strike action adds to the ongoing work-to-rule industrial action that began on June 26.

IALPA President Mark Tighe stated the escalation to an outright strike was due to a “campaign of antagonism” by Aer Lingus management. In response, Aer Lingus expressed disappointment at the timing of the strike during peak holiday season and emphasized efforts to minimize passenger disruption.
