Ardee Celtic U16 Stars Embark on Trip of a Lifetime to Sweden for Gothia Cup
Excitement is in the air as seven talented young footballers from Ardee Celtic’s Under-16 squad set off for Sweden to take part in the Gothia Cup – The World Youth Cup, one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in global football.
Representing not just their club, but the entire town of Ardee and County Louth, Oran Lynch, Daire Reilly, Danny Leavy, Nathan Donnelly, Thomas Quinlavin, Aaron Lynch, and Oisin Kellet will join their Dundalk Schoolboys League teammates and coaches for this unforgettable sporting journey.
The Gothia Cup, often dubbed the “Youth World Cup,” welcomes over 1,700 teams from 80+ countries every July in Gothenburg, offering young players the opportunity to compete on a global stage and experience new cultures, friendships, and sporting traditions.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the ArdeePost team shared their heartfelt support:
“We at ArdeePost would like to wish our Ardee Celtic Under-16 players and their teammates and coaches a safe journey to Sweden. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we know they will represent Ardee, their club, and County Louth with pride, passion, and sportsmanship.”
The journey is more than a tournament; it’s a chance for these boys to test their skills against elite youth teams from across the globe, build memories that will last a lifetime, and return home as even stronger athletes and young men.
The entire community is firmly behind them, and excitement continues to build as updates are expected from Sweden throughout the week. Whether they return with silverware or not, their courage, commitment, and talent are already a victory in the eyes of their supporters back home.
From all in Ardee, safe travels, good luck, and play with pride! 🇮🇪⚽🇸🇪
