CúChulainn Archers strike gold at Northern Ireland Field Championships
It was a weekend to remember for CúChulainn Archers, as members of the club travelled north to compete in the Northern Ireland and Open Field Championships 2025, returning home with a string of medals and impressive performances.
The two-day event, hosted by Ballyvalley Archers, Banbridge, took place at the scenic Greenmount Campus in Antrim, attracting some of the finest field archers from across Ireland and the UK. Competitors were tested across challenging terrain and varying weather conditions, making precision and focus essential to success.
Representing CúChulainn Archers, four members delivered outstanding results across multiple categories:
- Darrel Wilson – Senior Compound Men – 1st place (Gold)
- Gilbert McClelland – Compound Master – Gold
- Phillip Fitzpatrick – Compound Master – Silver
- Peter Gilmore – Master Barebow – 4th place
The club’s strong showing was met with pride and celebration among teammates and supporters, marking yet another milestone for the Dundalk-based archery group.
A spokesperson for CúChulainn Archers praised the team’s dedication and skill, noting how their hard work in training continues to pay off on the competitive stage.
“We’re incredibly proud of our members’ performances. To come away with two golds and a silver from a major open competition is a fantastic achievement,” they said. “It’s also a great inspiration for our newer members and those currently training in our beginner programmes.”
CúChulainn Archers continues to grow its membership and regularly hosts beginner courses throughout the year, offering people of all ages the chance to learn the ancient sport in a welcoming, community-driven environment.
