Ardee and District Cancer Support is one of 11 local charities and community groups in Louth and Meath that have received generous support from ALDI as part of the retailer’s ongoing Community Grants programme. Each organisation has been awarded a €500 gift card, donated by the ALDI store teams across both counties, to aid in their vital community work.

Along with Ardee and District Cancer Support, other beneficiaries include Woman’s Aid Dundalk, Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre, Leinster Horse and Pony Rescue, SOSAD Ireland, and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, which received two nominations. Meath Women’s Refuge and Support Services, and Women’s Shed Clonee were also recipients of the gift cards, highlighting the diversity of groups supported through this initiative.

ALDI’s Community Grants programme, launched in 2016, has been a key contributor to local communities, funding charities and organisations that play critical roles in providing services and support. The programme allows ALDI employees to nominate organisations they are passionate about, ensuring that the support reaches causes that resonate on a local level.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations in Ireland in 2024, ALDI has further expanded its Community Grants programme. An additional 26 charities and community groups—one from each county—have been selected to receive €2,500 worth of ALDI gift cards. In County Louth, Dogs Trust Ireland will be the recipient of this expanded support, while the 7th Meath Dunshaughlin Scout Group has been chosen for County Meath.

By the end of 2024, ALDI’s Community Grants programme will have donated a total of €758,000 to over 1,000 charities and community organisations across Ireland. From rescue teams to cancer and mental health support, these donations have made a significant impact since the programme’s inception.

Speaking about the initiative, Rachel Nugent, National Sustainability Manager at ALDI Ireland, said:

“We are delighted to continue supporting local charities and community groups across the country through the ALDI Community Grants programme, and to see the positive effect of our donations within County Louth’s local communities.

“The Community Grants programme is just one example of ALDI’s commitment to partnering with local organisations, and we look forward to strengthening these relationships in the future. As we celebrate our 25th year in Ireland in 2024, we are proud to have expanded the programme to make an even bigger difference.”

Through this initiative, ALDI remains dedicated to investing in the communities it serves, ensuring that local organisations can continue to provide vital services that improve lives.
