Ardee News and Sport — One of Ireland’s most decorated archery clubs, CúChulainn Archers, has announced an exciting new chapter in its storied history by moving to its new home at O’Raghallaighs GFC in Drogheda. Widely regarded as one of the country’s most successful archery organizations, the club boasts a membership base that spans the length and breadth of Ireland, bringing together talented athletes from all corners of the nation.

Renowned for its high level of performance both on the national and international stage, CúChulainn Archers has produced athletes who have earned medals in National, European, and World competitions, dominating both indoor and outdoor tournaments. Among its ranks, many hold Irish archery records, and several are current national champions, reinforcing the club’s position as a powerhouse of the sport in Ireland.

The club’s elite status extends far beyond its recent successes. Three members are currently representing Ireland at the prestigious World 3D Archery Championships in Slovenia, a testament to the calibre of archers that call CúChulainn home.

Historically, the club has a special place in Irish sports. It boasts family ties to Ireland’s first female Olympic medalist, Beatrice Hill-Lowe, who made history by securing a bronze medal in archery at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. This legacy highlights the club’s deep roots in the country’s archery heritage, as it continues to push the boundaries of what Irish archers can achieve on the global stage.

CúChulainn Archers isn’t just about high-performance athletes; it’s also a beacon of development and innovation in the sport. The club is home to six fully trained archery coaches and three qualified competition judges, ensuring top-tier guidance and fair play for all involved. It has also hosted Ireland’s largest indoor championship, underlining its capability to organize world-class events.

In a bid to stay ahead of the curve, the club has fostered a spirit of innovation. One of its members has developed TimeJudge, an advanced timing system specifically designed for archery competitions. This cutting-edge system simplifies the complexities of timing in the sport, making it easier to manage the numerous formats and categories in archery. What’s more, this adaptable system is designed to be applied across other sports, offering a revolutionary tool for the wider athletic community.

For those looking to join this prestigious club, CúChulainn Archers is always open to new members. Aspiring archers must first complete a Beginners Course, with the next one starting in Drogheda on October 26th. Due to the high demand, places on this course are limited. For more information or to secure a spot, interested participants can email the club at cuchulainnarchers@hotmail.com.

With its move to O’Raghallaighs GFC and a legacy of excellence that stretches across decades, CúChulainn Archers is poised to continue its reign as a leader in Irish archery for years to come.
