Ardee-Based Heart Rhythm Ireland Rebrands as Heart Rhythm International with 20 New Jobs and Major Global Expansion Plans

By ArdeePost Reporter

Ardee-Based Irish cardiac technology company Heart Rhythm Ireland, headquartered in Ardee, Co. Louth, has announced a major rebrand and ambitious international expansion, with plans to create 20 new jobs and generate an additional €3 million in revenue over the next three years.

Now operating as Heart Rhythm International (HRI), the company will begin its overseas push by entering the UK healthcare market, aiming to onboard 30 additional hospitals and reach 50,000 new patients before 2029. The expansion will later extend to Australia/New Zealand and the United States, where discussions with healthcare providers are already underway.

Founded over 15 years ago, HRI delivers a cloud-based cardiac rhythm management platform that provides real-time access to cardiac device data for patients, clinicians, hospitals, and device manufacturers. With over 65,000 Irish patients already supported and systems active in more than 50 hospitals, the platform has become Ireland’s national electronic health record for cardiac devices.

CEO Robert Kelly says the rebrand reflects the company’s evolution from a national leader to an emerging international innovator.

“Every 20 seconds someone receives a cardiac implant, but the systems supporting their care haven’t kept pace,” Kelly said. “HRI was set up to change that—operating at the centre of a unique ecosystem supporting patients, clinicians, hospitals, and cardiac device manufacturers.”

“We’ve already demonstrated how we can enhance cardiac care in Ireland. Now, we’re bringing that capability overseas.”

Ardee-Based HRI’s platform not only improves patient outcomes by enabling timely clinical decisions but also empowers patients with secure, anytime-anywhere access to their data. This allows for easier sharing of information in emergencies and more coordinated, personalised care.

A key feature of the system is its scalable cloud-based infrastructure, developed in partnership with IBM, which facilitates rapid deployment for healthcare providers worldwide.

The company is also advancing its AI and predictive analytics capabilities, using its registry of over 100,000 implant procedures and nearly one million clinical follow-up records to support earlier insights into patient health.

“We’ve been building our dataset for 15 years, and that puts us in a very strong position to develop predictive AI models that can truly transform cardiac care,” Kelly said.

In line with its research-driven approach, HRI is a key partner in Project CARAMEL, a €12 million EU Horizon Europe initiative developing AI-powered models for cardiovascular risk in women aged 40 to 60. HRI is also contributing to the Health Frontiers Technology Innovation Centre (HF-TIC) led by Ulster University, supported by €9.1 million in PEACEPLUS funding.

The company’s future team will grow to 30 employees, with new roles in data science, AI, customer support, and international operations as the global rollout progresses.

“We’re managing our expansion step by step, focusing initially on the UK,” Kelly added. “But the opportunities in the US and Australia/New Zealand are significant. We believe HRI has the potential to support thousands more patients and clinicians around the world—improving care and saving lives.”
