Ardee News and Sport – Ardee Bypass a ‘Game-Changer’ for Town, Says Louth Fianna Fáil Candidate
Senator Erin McGreehan, a Fianna Fáil general election candidate for Louth, has hailed the decision to allow the long-awaited Ardee Bypass to progress as a transformative development for the town.
Describing the planning decision as “hugely significant for Ardee,” Senator McGreehan emphasized the critical need for a comprehensive regeneration plan to accompany the project.
“This bypass could be a game changer for the town,” she stated. “A regeneration scheme must be designed and commenced for the people and business owners of Ardee.”
Senator McGreehan highlighted the challenges of daily congestion in the town, which she said negatively impacts both residents and businesses. “We need to make sure that Ardee has a regeneration plan to take advantage of what the town has to offer,” she said.
Looking ahead, she called for measures to ensure that the town remains a vibrant destination. “To ensure that if the town is bypassed, we must have a way to encourage visits to the town centre,” she added.
Senator McGreehan also underscored the importance of leveraging Ardee’s historical and cultural assets to attract tourism and enhance its appeal.
“This could be a new beginning for Mid Louth,” she said. “If elected to Dáil Éireann, I will absolutely work to ensure that Ardee town gets support to start planning for that bypass. The history and what the town of Ardee can offer must be celebrated.”
The proposed bypass is seen as a crucial step toward alleviating congestion, improving quality of life for residents, and unlocking economic opportunities for the region.
