Louth County Council is gearing up for another successful year with its Mattress and Sofa Amnesty Event, thanks to a generous government grant of €76,800. This funding will support three Anti-Dumping Initiative (ADI) Projects throughout 2024, aimed at reducing illegal dumping of bulky household items.
The Amnesty Event, which has seen significant success in the past, will again provide residents of Ardee, Drogheda, and Dundalk with a chance to dispose of unwanted mattresses and sofas responsibly. The initiative not only helps in keeping our towns and countryside clean but also prevents the illegal disposal of these large items.
The local authority’s Environment Section is currently finalizing the dates for this year’s events. While specific dates are yet to be announced, last year’s event was held in September, so residents can expect similar timing this year.
The Mattress and Sofa Amnesty Event will be held at the following locations:
• V&W Civic Amenity Centre, Newry Rd, Dundalk, Co. Louth
• V&W Civic Amenity Centre, Mell Road, Mell, Drogheda, Co. Louth
• Kieran & McGee Ardee Livestock Sales Yard, Ardee, Co. Louth
These convenient drop-off points will be set up to make it easier for residents to participate. Keep an eye out for official announcements regarding the exact dates and prepare to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to clear out unwanted items and support our community’s efforts to combat illegal dumping.
