134 Irish Golfers to Compete in Open Championship Regional Qualifiers
The Regional Qualifying events for the Open Championship are set for Monday, 24 June, and the draws are now available on TheOpen.com.
County Louth Golf Club, fresh from hosting the East of Ireland Championship, will be the venue for the Irish Regional Qualifier. An impressive 117 Irish golfers will compete in Baltray, including 48 amateurs aiming for a shot at the Open Championship and the prestigious Silver Medal.
The remaining 17 Irish entrants are distributed across eight additional venues:
• Rochester and Cobham Park: 2 golfers
• Kilmarnock: 4 golfers
• Caldy: 1 golfer
• Ferndown: 1 golfer
• Moor Park: 2 golfers
• Minchinhampton: 1 golfer
• Bearwood Lakes: 3 golfers
• North Hants: 3 golfers
Due to the high number of entries, an additional qualifying event will be held at Frilford Heath, making a total of 15 events.
Golfers who succeed in these regional qualifiers will advance to the Final Qualifying events on Tuesday, 2 July, at Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald, Royal Cinque Ports, and West Lancashire.

Venues Announced for 2025 R&A Amateur Championships and International Matches
Renowned venues in Great Britain, Ireland, and beyond will host The R&A’s amateur championships and international matches in 2025.
Key Events:
• 130th Amateur Championship: Held at Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports from 16–21 June, with a pre-qualifier on 13 June.
• 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship: Hosted by Nairn in Scotland from 9–14 June.
• Walker Cup: Takes place at Cypress Point, California, on 6–7 September, with Dean Robertson captaining the GB&I team.
Additional Championships:
• R&A Girls’ and Boys’ Amateur Championships: Held at Conwy and County Louth respectively in August.
• R&A Girls’ U16 Amateur Championship: Taking place at Gog Magog in April.
• R&A Women’s and Men’s Senior Amateur Championships: Concurrently played at Walton Heath in July.
International Matches:
• St Andrews Trophy: Held at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro, Spain, in July.
• Vagliano and Junior Vagliano Trophies: Hosted by Royal Hague Golf & Country Club, Netherlands, in June.
• Jacques Léglise Trophy: Played at Royal Golf Club of Belgium in August.
The Walker Cup and St Andrews Trophy will both be held in 2025 as part of a realignment, moving the Walker Cup to even years from 2026 and the St Andrews Trophy to odd years from 2025.
