Boost Your Community Impact: Join a Local Board or Committee with Louth Volunteer Centre
Did you know that County Louth is home to over 700 voluntary and community groups? Despite our small size, we excel in community spirit. Louth Volunteer Centre is calling on locals to get involved by joining voluntary boards or committees, offering a chance to make a real difference in your community.
If you’re passionate about giving back and want to use your skills for the greater good, this is your opportunity. Serving on a charity, community, or voluntary organisation’s board allows you to contribute your expertise, support public benefit, and help steer these vital groups in the right direction. It’s a rewarding experience, offering personal growth and professional development.
However, attracting new board or committee members remains a challenge for many groups, with 40% of potential volunteers unsure about what’s involved. Addressing this gap is crucial to sustaining Louth’s essential voluntary sector.
To support this, Louth Volunteer Centre is launching its fourth annual “Empowering You, Empowering Our Community” programme. This initiative is designed for those with little or no board experience, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to take on leadership roles.
Past participants have praised the programme for its practical, accessible content, with many going on to fulfil leadership roles within Louth’s community organisations.
The programme begins on September 25th, delivered over six bite-sized evening sessions via Zoom, making it easy for those with busy schedules to attend. Spaces are limited and filling up fast, so early registration is encouraged.
