Bridewell Triumphs as Irwin Retires at Knockhill
Reigning champion Tommy Bridewell secured his first British Superbike race win of the season for Honda at Knockhill, while championship leader Glenn Irwin faced his first retirement of the year.
Bridewell, who started from pole position, won by 2.5 seconds ahead of Scottish rider Rory Skinner and Honda’s Andrew Irwin, who celebrated his first podium since the final round of the 2022 season at Brands Hatch.
Glenn Irwin’s race ended in disappointment as he was forced to retire with four laps remaining due to mechanical issues with his PBM Ducati. The race saw intense competition for the podium places, with the Irwin brothers, Skinner, and Kawasaki’s Jason O’Halloran battling fiercely.
Bridewell’s victory at Knockhill marks him as the fifth different race winner of the season, tightening the championship standings. Irwin’s lead is now reduced to just four points over Bridewell and Danny Kent, who finished seventh in the race. The competition continues with two more races on Sunday at the Scottish circuit.
