Ardee News and SportCllr Dolores Minogue Urges Action on Ardee Traffic as Bypass Faces Legal Delays

Louth County Council has been called upon to explore alternative solutions for improving traffic flow in Ardee, as the long-awaited bypass project faces further delays due to a legal challenge by an environmental group.

Fine Gael Cllr Dolores Minogue raised the issue at the local authority’s monthly meeting, highlighting the severe traffic congestion currently plaguing the town. She noted that every road leading into Ardee, particularly the Kells Road, has been significantly impacted, causing frustration for both residents and businesses.

Cllr Minogue expressed the need for immediate action, saying, “I’m always raising the Ardee bypass, or should I say the lack of the bypass. The people of Ardee, Mid Louth, and even the business community have been very patient about this bypass happening.”

With the bypass project now delayed indefinitely due to a legal challenge, Cllr Minogue is urging officials to identify alternative methods to alleviate the town’s traffic woes. She has called for better signage, the exploration of alternative routes, and targeted measures to address traffic bottlenecks within the town.

“We need to get the town moving, and we can’t wait any longer for a decision on the bypass,” she emphasized. “We need to start taking action now to get traffic flowing, which will benefit pedestrians, motorists, and the business people of Ardee.”

The Ardee Bypass has long been seen as a key infrastructure project that would significantly ease congestion in the town. However, the recent legal challenge has thrown its future into uncertainty, with no clear timeline for resolution. In the meantime, the council is being urged to take proactive steps to improve traffic conditions in the short term.

Residents and business owners alike are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress on the bypass and the ongoing traffic issues that are affecting daily life and economic activity in the area.

As pressure mounts, Cllr Minogue continues to advocate for solutions that will bring immediate relief to the town’s gridlocked streets.
