Ardee News and SportCommunity Unites at Christmas Fair to Raise Vital Funds for Cancer Support

The Parish Centre in Ardee was alive with festive cheer on Sunday, November 24, as the community came together for the annual Ardee and District Cancer Support Christmas Fair. Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event proved to be a heartwarming success, drawing large crowds and raising essential funds for the local cancer support group.

Months of careful planning by the dedicated Fundraising Committee paid off, resulting in a vibrant and well-organized event that offered something for everyone. The fair featured 39 trade stands brimming with unique crafts, handmade gifts, and delicious festive treats. Attendees had the chance to shop early for Christmas, with a wide array of items ranging from handmade crafts by the Ardee Women’s Shed to indulgent Christmas puddings and other creative gifts.

The Ardee Women’s Shed’s beautifully crafted items, sold in support of the cancer group, were a particular hit. Traders participating in the fair praised its seamless organization and the steady stream of visitors, making it a positive experience for both sellers and shoppers alike.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were performances by local talent, including the Ardee Ukulele Group, the Ardee Concert Band, and the Ruth Kelly Women’s Choir. Their music set a joyful tone for the day, ensuring visitors were entertained as they browsed the stalls.

The raffle, a perennial highlight of the fair, featured a variety of prizes donated by generous local businesses and supporters, including hampers, gift vouchers, and other goodies. Tickets sold briskly at SuperValu the day before the event and throughout the fair, further boosting funds raised for the cause.

Organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, performers, traders, and attendees who contributed to the event’s success. “This fair was about more than just fundraising,” a committee member noted. “It was about bringing our community together in the spirit of giving and celebration, while supporting a cause that touches so many lives.”

As the day wrapped up, the buzz of satisfaction was unmistakable. Smiling visitors, contented traders, and the knowledge that vital funds were secured for a worthy cause made the Christmas Fair a shining example of community spirit in action.

The proceeds will go directly to supporting individuals and families affected by cancer in the Ardee and District area, ensuring that the care and compassion of the local community continue to make a difference where it matters most.
