The weeks leading up to St. Patrick’s weekend were action-packed for members of CúChulainn Archers, with competitors traveling—some over great distances—to take part in prestigious archery events.
One of the most anticipated international events for the club is the National Field Archery Association’s Las Vegas Shoot, traditionally held at the South Point Casino in early March. However, due to renovations at the usual venue, this year’s competition was divided among multiple casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. This logistical challenge deterred most club members from attending, but Alan Convery proudly represented CúChulainn Archers in the Flights section. He returned home satisfied with his performance and brought back a generally positive report on the event’s new format.
Back on Irish soil, the Irish National Indoor Championships took place in Gormanstown, Co. Meath. Several CúChulainn Archers members competed, achieving impressive results:
- Brendan Forde finished 9th in the fiercely contested Recurve Men category.
- Darrel Wilson secured a Bronze medal in Compound Senior Men.
- Paul McClelland placed 6th in Compound Senior Men and took Silver in Compound Master Men.
- JoAnn Bell achieved double Gold in Compound Senior Women and Compound Master Women.
Following this, members turned their focus to the Ballyvalley Shamrock Shoot, a two-day competition where CúChulainn Archers continued their medal-winning streak:
Compound Men:
- Alan Convery finished 5th despite competing only on one of the two days—an impressive feat!
Compound Master Men:
- Philip Fitzpatrick took Gold.
- Gilbert McClelland won Bronze.
- Hugh Smith placed 4th in a hotly contested category.
Barebow Men:
- Neil Keeble won Gold.
- Ryan Dougan finished 5th, despite competing only on one day—well done!
Barebow Master Categories:
- Peter Gilmore claimed Bronze in Barebow Master Men.
- Siobhán Keeble secured Gold in Barebow Master Women.
