Drogheda Animal Rescue Appeals for Donations After Kittens Found Dumped in Ardee
Drogheda Animal Rescue (DAR) is urgently appealing for donations after a heartbreaking discovery in Ardee. The rescue organization, already stretched thin by an overwhelming number of cases, is struggling to care for a group of kittens found dumped in a rubbish bin in the center of Ardee.
In a social media post, DAR shared that they were alerted by a local vet about five tiny kittens, estimated to be just three to four weeks old, found abandoned in the bin. The kittens were in poor health, suffering from severe eye infections, and were in desperate need of immediate medical attention.
But that wasn’t the only distressing call DAR received that day. The organization was also contacted by a vet in Kentstown, County Meath, who had taken in a two-day-old kitten. The newborn, too young to survive on its own, requires round-the-clock bottle feeding and intensive care.
In their post, DAR highlighted the relentless demand on their volunteers and resources, stating, “Every single day, there is an animal in need. Today, Saturday, August 24th, 2024, was no different. All of this takes a toll on both our already battle-worn and weary volunteers, and not to mention our finances.”
With their funds running low as the year draws to a close, Drogheda Animal Rescue is urging the community to help. They are asking anyone who can spare a little to donate via the iDonate platform, reach out through a direct message on their Facebook page, or email them at info@dar.ie.
DAR’s dedicated volunteers continue to work tirelessly to save animals in need, but they can’t do it alone. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals.
