Dundalk FC owner Brian Ainscough has confirmed reports regarding the club’s financial difficulties, addressing the issue head-on in a statement released today. In light of widespread speculation, Ainscough has admitted that the club is facing significant financial challenges but remains hopeful that a solution can be found.

“There are a lot of reports out there that the club is experiencing financial difficulties. Unfortunately, those reports are true,” Ainscough said. He had initially hoped to secure investment in August, but for various reasons, those plans did not materialize, leaving the club in a precarious situation as it seeks to complete the season.

“My immediate concern now is that the club can carry on for the remainder of the season,” Ainscough stated, expressing his dedication to exploring all avenues to ensure Dundalk FC can maintain operations in the short term. He revealed that he is actively seeking new investment and is open to discussions regarding the ownership of the club, with the goal of securing the necessary funds to sustain its future.

“I am exploring all possibilities about the ownership of the club to ensure that happens. I will continue to speak to any interested parties and I remain fully positive that we can secure the injection of cash that we need to keep us going.”

Ainscough also addressed the issue of delayed wages, acknowledging that players and staff experienced a delay in receiving their payments last week. “I am aware of the distress that this caused our players and staff, and I would like to assure them that this was a temporary issue which will be resolved in the coming days,” he assured.

Despite the financial turmoil, Ainscough remains committed to resolving the situation and turning the club’s fortunes around. His statement also highlighted the overwhelming support from the players, staff, supporters, and wider community, expressing gratitude for their patience during this challenging period.

“I want to thank our players, staff, supporters, and the wider community for their support and patience at this time and want to let them know that we are working extremely hard to turn this situation around.”

Dundalk FC has faced financial hurdles in the past, and Ainscough’s transparency about the club’s current status signals his intention to address the issues proactively. While the road ahead may be uncertain, his statement offers hope that with the right investment and continued community support, Dundalk FC can navigate through these tough times and secure its future.

As Ainscough and the board explore potential investors and new ownership possibilities, Dundalk supporters will no doubt be watching developments closely, eager for positive news and hopeful for a swift resolution to the club’s financial struggles.
