Global IT Outage Disrupts Flights, NCT Centres, and TFI App in Ireland

 IT Outage

A massive IT outage has caused widespread chaos globally, affecting services across airlines, NCT centres, and more in Ireland. Triggered by a corrupt Microsoft Windows anti-virus update, the glitch has impacted systems worldwide, with Microsoft working to resolve the issue.

Airports and Airlines:

Long delays are expected at Dublin, Cork, Knock, and Belfast airports. Ryanair warns of disruptions due to the “global third-party system outage,” urging passengers to arrive three hours early. Planes were grounded at Dublin Airport, with similar delays reported at Knock and Cork. American Airlines also faced delays, though Aer Lingus has not reported any impact.

NCT Centres:

NCT centres across Ireland are experiencing disruptions, affecting both test and contact centres. Fees for missed tests will automatically move to the next appointment.

Broadcasting:

Sky News and other broadcasters like SBS, ABC, and Network 10 reported outages. RTÉ experienced intermittent internet issues but maintained service.

Trains and Buses:

The Transport for Ireland app is down, with Irish Rail and Bus Éireann advising passengers to check their website for updates.

Banking:

Banking services in Ireland remain unaffected, with no issues reported by Revolut or Visa.
