Ulster Dominates Women’s Interprovincials with 8½ – ½ Victory Over Connacht

Reigning champions Ulster kicked off their title defense in the Women’s Interprovincials with a commanding 8½ to ½ win against Connacht on the first day at Slieve Russell. Ulster’s Katie Poots and Rebekah Gardner led the way with a 5&3 win in the opening foursomes. Kate Dwyer and Molly O’Hara followed with a 3&1 victory, while Judith Allen and Amy Kelly secured a narrow 1up win. In the afternoon singles, Ulster continued their dominance, with victories from Poots, Gardner, Allen, O’Hara, and Kelly, while Shannon Burke managed a halve.

Leinster Shines in Men’s Interprovincials with 8-3 Triumph Over Munster

Defending champions Leinster began their campaign in the Men’s Interprovincials with an impressive 8-3 win against Munster. Morning foursomes victories from Evan Farrell and Eoin Murphy, as well as Keith Egan and Adam Smith, set the tone. Leinster then took control in the afternoon singles, winning all but one match, with David Reddan salvaging a point for Munster.

In the other men’s match, Connacht defeated Ulster 7-4. David Shiel and Aodhagan Brady started strong in the foursomes, followed by Simon Walker and Cian O’Connor. Connacht carried this momentum into the singles, with wins from Shiel, Luke O’Neill, O’Connor, and Walker securing the overall victory.
