Ardee News and Sport Honouring Excellence: 2024 Ardee Municipal District Civic Awards Celebrate Local Heroes

The 2024 Ardee Municipal District Civic Awards took place on Wednesday, January 29th, at Ardee Courthouse, where 11 outstanding individuals and groups were recognised for their exceptional contributions to the community. These awards celebrate those who have achieved remarkable goals, demonstrated unwavering commitment to service, or represented Ardee and Mid-Louth on national and international stages.

The ceremony was hosted by Susan Deery, Administrative Officer at Louth County Council, and commenced with remarks from Cllr John Sheridan, Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District. He praised the diversity and impact of this year’s honourees, acknowledging their role in strengthening the local community.

“These awards will be forever recorded in the roll of Civic Honours retained by Louth County Council,” said Cllr Sheridan. “As councillors, we witness the lasting impact of these nominees on our communities. Their hard work and dedication will be felt for years to come.”

Louth County Council Chief Executive David Conway, in attendance for his first public event since assuming his role earlier this month, echoed Sheridan’s sentiments.

“These awards serve as formal recognition of the vital work and voluntary service carried out by the nominees,” he stated. “Voluntary work is the heartbeat of a community, and the achievements of this year’s awardees highlight the incredible dedication within Ardee and Mid-Louth.”
