Ardee News and Sport – Liam Flynn Debuts as Louth Name Strong Team for Westmeath Clash in Allianz Division 2
Louth’s senior football team has named an impressive lineup for their Allianz Division 2 opener against Westmeath in Mullingar. The squad features 10 players who started in last year’s historic All-Ireland quarter-final against Donegal, with the spotlight on Liam Flynn from Mattock Rangers, the only debutant. Liam Flynn will make his first appearance in the red jersey, slotting in at right half-forward.
The Wee County aims to build on their momentum from 2024, with seasoned players like Sam Mulroy and Conor Keenan leading the charge. Manager Mickey Harte will hope his experienced core can deliver a strong performance against a formidable Westmeath side.
Elsewhere, Kerry’s lineup against Donegal in Killarney is notable for the absence of star forward David Clifford, though his brother Paudie Clifford and Seán O’Shea are expected to drive the attack. Debutants Eddie Healy and Cathal Ó Beaglaoich bolster their squad as they look to begin their campaign on a high.
Meanwhile, Galway, Clare, Kilkenny, and Kildare have also revealed squads with a mix of youth and experience, reflecting the energy and unpredictability of the Allianz League’s opening weekend.
Louth fans are expected to travel in strong numbers to Mullingar, with hopes high that the team can replicate last year’s successes and set the tone for another promising campaign.
