Ardee Election Results: New Louth County Council Line-Up Announced
The vote count at County Hall in Dundalk continued through the night, culminating in the declaration of the final results for Louth.
After a long weekend of counting, here’s the new Louth County Council line-up:
• Sinn Féin maintained their seven seats in Louth, remaining the largest party despite setbacks elsewhere.
• Independents hold seven seats, bolstered by Ciarán Fisher’s impressive debut in the Dundalk Carlingford area.
• Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are tied with six seats each.
• Labour lost one seat.
• Marianne Butler continues to represent the Green Party.
Ardee Councillors:
• Jim Tenanty (Independent)
• Pearse McGeough (Sinn Féin)
• Paula Butterly (Fine Gael)
• John Sheridan (Fianna Fáil)
• Dolores Minogue (Fine Gael)
• Bernie Conlon (Independent)
There is no change in representation, with the results declared around 3 am. Fine Gael newcomer Rachel Kerley was in the running but did not secure the final seat.
Drogheda Urban LEA:
The final result was declared after 7:30 am. Fine Gael newcomer Ejiro O’Hare Stratton has been elected, while Labour’s Emma Cutlip has lost her seat.
Dundalk South LEA:
Shortly before 4:30 am, Fianna Fáil newcomer Shane McGuinness and the Green Party’s Marianne Butler filled the last two seats.
Dundalk Carlingford LEA:
Two new councillors have been elected: Independent Ciarán Fisher and Sinn Féin’s Fiona Mhic Conchoille. Fianna Fáil’s Conor Keelan lost his seat, and Sinn Féin’s Edel Corrigan did not seek re-election.
Drogheda Rural LEA:
There are two new councillors. Fine Gael’s Anne-Marie Ford has secured a seat following the retirement of Eileen Tully. Tom Cunningham lost his seat, but Sinn Féin’s newcomer Eric Donovan retained a seat for the party.
