Ardee Election Results: New Louth County Council Line-Up Announced

The vote count at County Hall in Dundalk continued through the night, culminating in the declaration of the final results for Louth.

After a long weekend of counting, here’s the new Louth County Council line-up:

Sinn Féin maintained their seven seats in Louth, remaining the largest party despite setbacks elsewhere.

Independents hold seven seats, bolstered by Ciarán Fisher’s impressive debut in the Dundalk Carlingford area.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are tied with six seats each.

Labour lost one seat.

Marianne Butler continues to represent the Green Party.

Ardee Councillors:

• Jim Tenanty (Independent)

• Pearse McGeough (Sinn Féin)

• Paula Butterly (Fine Gael)

• John Sheridan (Fianna Fáil)

• Dolores Minogue (Fine Gael)

• Bernie Conlon (Independent)

There is no change in representation, with the results declared around 3 am. Fine Gael newcomer Rachel Kerley was in the running but did not secure the final seat.

Drogheda Urban LEA:

The final result was declared after 7:30 am. Fine Gael newcomer Ejiro O’Hare Stratton has been elected, while Labour’s Emma Cutlip has lost her seat.

Dundalk South LEA:

Shortly before 4:30 am, Fianna Fáil newcomer Shane McGuinness and the Green Party’s Marianne Butler filled the last two seats.

Dundalk Carlingford LEA:

Two new councillors have been elected: Independent Ciarán Fisher and Sinn Féin’s Fiona Mhic Conchoille. Fianna Fáil’s Conor Keelan lost his seat, and Sinn Féin’s Edel Corrigan did not seek re-election.
