Louth GAA Stadium Development Back on Track
Louth GAA received positive news today as weeks of negotiations have brought the county stadium development back on track.
After much debate and questioning about the new stadium’s progress, Chairman Sean McClean provided answers to county board delegates and club representatives at PPFS Darver tonight.
Accompanied by the Louth GAA Stadium Committee—Tom Dooley, Niall Erskine, John Horan, Justin Travers, Dermot Clarke, Aidan Berrill, and Colm Holmes—McClean detailed the stadium development status on the Inner Relief Road in Dundalk. A plan to advance the project has been established through regular meetings between Croke Park’s delegation, including former Uachtaran John Horan, Niall Erskine, and Justin Travers, and Louth representatives.
The stadium will be developed in two phases: Phase 1 will include a seated stand, floodlights, entrances and exits, and a playing pitch, while Phase 2 will complete the remaining construction. A project manager is already in place, working to find a design team that will ensure the stadium fits the budget without reducing capacity or altering the original design.
McClean also discussed the project’s financing, highlighting support from government bodies and the GAA (Central Council and Leinster Council), with Louth GAA raising the remainder through fundraising initiatives. Club delegates asked various questions and will now relay the information to their clubs. The meeting ended on a high note, with the committee receiving commendation for their efforts.
