Ardee News and Sport – Louth Hurlers Make It Two from Two with Commanding Win Over Monaghan
Allianz Hurling League Division 4 – Round 2
Louth 2-23 Monaghan 0-12
The Wee County hurlers continued their perfect start to the Allianz Hurling League Division 4 campaign with a dominant 2-23 to 0-12 victory over Monaghan in Emyvale on Saturday afternoon.
Following their impressive opening-round win over Fermanagh, Trevor Hilliard’s men once again showcased their attacking firepower, pulling away in the second half to seal a comprehensive result.
Clinical Second Half Secures Victory
The game was competitive in the early stages, with Monaghan keeping within reach, but Louth always looked the sharper side in attack. The Wee County had a solid platform to build on at halftime, but it was in the second period that they truly put the contest to bed.
Just as they had done against Fermanagh last week, Louth produced another stunning second-half display, registering 2-12 after the restart. Goals from Peter Fortune and Sam Phelan ensured there was no way back for Monaghan, who struggled to cope with the relentless pace and precision of their opponents.
Perfect Start Sets Up Warwickshire Clash
With two wins from two, Louth are now in an excellent position as they prepare for their next challenge—a trip to Birmingham next weekend to take on Warwickshire. Confidence will be high in the camp after back-to-back dominant performances, with Hilliard’s men showing real intent as they push for promotion from Division 4.
Monaghan, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly after a tough afternoon, as they look to get their campaign back on track.
For Louth, the message is clear—momentum is building, and they will be eager to extend their winning streak when they take on Warwickshire in Round 3.
