Louth County Council has officially opened entries for its much-anticipated annual environmental competition — “Louth in Bloom 2025”. The initiative, which celebrates civic pride, environmental care, and community spirit, kicks off today, May 23rd, with the closing date for nominations set for Friday, July 4th.
Now a cherished fixture in the county’s calendar, Louth in Bloom continues to grow in popularity each year, encouraging residents, businesses, and community groups to help beautify their surroundings and contribute to a greener, more vibrant Louth.
Entrants can look forward to a wide range of categories designed to honour efforts big and small — from beautifully maintained private gardens to ambitious biodiversity initiatives. - Best Kept Estate / Street / Apartment Complex – Category A (Less than 50 Houses): Highlighting the beauty and care in smaller housing areas that boast outstanding communal spaces and overall presentation.
- Best Kept Estate / Street / Apartment Complex – Category B (Over 51 Houses): Recognising larger residential areas that have gone the extra mile in community-driven enhancement projects and green space development.
- Best Front Garden in a Town or Village: Celebrating individual efforts in private gardens that reflect outstanding horticultural flair and biodiversity promotion in more urban settings.
- Best Front Garden in a Rural Area: A nod to countryside dwellers whose garden designs combine creativity with ecological awareness and wildlife support.
- Best Presented Business Premises: Honouring businesses that bring colour, life, and style to their storefronts, contributing to a more inviting local streetscape.
- Best Presented Hospitality Premises: From quaint cafes to elegant hotels, this category salutes hospitality providers for creating attractive, welcoming exteriors that boost tourism and local pride.
- Best Biodiversity / Sustainable Innovative Initiative or Project: This prestigious category celebrates projects focused on habitat restoration, conservation, community education, and eco-conscious innovation.
- Best Tidy Town Sustainable Innovative Initiative or Project: Spotlighting forward-thinking projects by Tidy Towns groups that champion renewable energy, sustainable practices, and environmental leadership.
