Ardee News and Sport — Louth Volunteer Centre is once again calling for nominations for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards. Behind every team of volunteers is an exceptional Volunteer Leader. This individual may be responsible for coordinating the group, ensuring volunteers are supported, and keeping everything running smoothly. These leaders often work tirelessly behind the scenes, rarely taking the spotlight, and their remarkable contributions frequently go unnoticed

This year, the Louth Volunteer Centre is partnering with the Louth Public Participation Network (Louth PPN) to present the awards. Louth PPN is our county’s network of community, voluntary, social inclusion, and environmental organizations, all working together to improve the quality of life for our citizens.

Last year, Jackie Walsh from Lourdes Youth Choir won the Leading Youth Volunteers 2023 award for Louth. Reflecting on the recognition, Walsh shared, “I’m speechless. I’ve been involved with the choir for so many years, and it’s so nice to be recognized. While the girls, parents, and the congregation acknowledge what I do, it’s wonderful to receive recognition in a different way, especially since my dad (organist Sean Walsh) was also nominated.”

Every Volunteer Leader nominated will receive a personal thank you card, a certificate, and an invitation to a luncheon event at the Imperial Hotel in Dundalk on November 5th, coinciding with 2024 International Volunteer Managers Day. Two standout Volunteer Leaders will be named as overall winners at the event in the categories of Co. Louth Volunteer Leader of the Year and Leading Young Volunteers.

Do you know someone who consistently goes above and beyond as a Volunteer Leader? Perhaps they are the first to take on extra responsibilities, or they inspire young people in your community to dedicate their time to helping others. If so, nominate them for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards to show that their efforts are recognized, appreciated, and celebrated!

Kayleigh Mulligan, Manager of Louth Volunteer Centre, emphasizes, “Those who lead and organize volunteers are the unsung heroes behind every successful community initiative. By recognizing their efforts, we honor the vision, coordination, and passion required to bring people together for a shared purpose, turning collective goodwill into lasting impact.”

Nominations can be submitted at www.volunteerlouth.ie by 12 noon on Friday, October 25th. For more information on the awards or volunteering opportunities in Louth, feel free to get in touch.
