NEFL Roundup: Blackbull’s Thrilling Comeback; Ardee Celtic Triumph; Tough Losses for Termonfeckin and Square

Blackbull and Johnstown in Eight-Goal Thriller

Johnstown 4 – Blackbull 4

Blackbull are quickly becoming Division 2’s most entertaining team, battling back from 3-1 down to secure a 4-4 draw against Johnstown at the MDL grounds on Thursday night. Jack Murphy scored twice, and Phil Bergin’s volley helped Blackbull level the score before halftime. Despite creating numerous chances in the second half, Blackbull couldn’t secure the win. They’ll look to bounce back on Sunday against Virginia at St Oliver’s.

Blackbull Lineup: Seán Manyara, Alex Shanley, Nick Gallwey, Robert Clarke, Jack Wall, Ewan Coughlan, Jack Murphy, Tadhg Redmond, Luke Jenkins, Aaron Lawlor, Phil Bergin. Subs: Dylan Nolan, Graham Duffy, Conor Loughran.

Ardee Celtic Continue Unbeaten Streak

Ardee Celtic 1 – Sporting BJD 0

Ardee Celtic extended their unbeaten run in Division 1 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Sporting BJD on Friday night. Desmond Jibona’s first goal of the season, following a free-kick by Robbie Reynolds, secured all three points. Despite a missed penalty by Sporting BJD, Ardee held on to climb the ranks with games in hand.

Ardee Celtic Lineup: Declan Butler, Aaron Roche, Desmond Jibona, Davin Starkie, Karlos Kayode, Robert Reynolds, Seán O’Donoghue, Shawni Dowdall, Bryan O’Connor, Adam Farrell, Niall Eccles. Subs: Cameron Maher, Lorcan Myles, Cian Matthews.

Heavy Defeats for Termonfeckin and Square United

Termonfeckin Celtic 1 – Torro United 6

Termonfeckin Celtic’s Fitzsimons Cup hopes were dashed with a 6-1 loss to Torro United. Despite a goal from Paul Flanagan, Torro’s clinical performance ended Termonfeckin’s cup run. With a bye week ahead, Termonfeckin aim to regroup and improve their league standing.

Termonfeckin Celtic Lineup: Anthony Magee, Abubakar Cisse, Camon Balfe, Paul Flanagan, Aaron Walsh, James Younger-Hobbs, Donal Carr, Ciarán Hartnett, Michael Leech, Tadhg Gallagher, Jack Bohill.

Carrick Rovers 6 – Square United 0

Square United’s Kilmessan Shield campaign ended abruptly with a 6-0 defeat to Carrick Rovers. Despite a strong start from goalkeeper Marc Levins, Carrick’s relentless attack proved too much for Square. They’ll seek redemption in the Fitzsimons Cup against Sporting BJD next Saturday.

Square United Lineup: Marc Levins, Tristan Knowles, Aidan-Lee Martin, Dean Leavy, Killian Murray, Stefan Halpenny, James O’Connor, Bernard Gorman, Enda Smith, Richie Rogers, Mikey Nulty. Subs: Taylor Diamond, Irinel Popescu.
