Niall McCreanor Selected as Social Democrats Candidate for Louth in Upcoming General Election
Ardee News and Sport – The Social Democrats have officially chosen Niall McCreanor as their candidate for Louth in the forthcoming general election. A lifelong resident of Louth, McCreanor has long been aware of the challenges facing the community and now hopes to bring real change through his candidacy.
Niall McCreanor told Ardee Post “I am honoured to be selected to run for the Social Democrats in this constituency. This is my home and my family’s home, and I am passionate about creating a brighter future for Louth,” McCreanor said. His campaign is set to focus on tackling issues such as housing affordability, healthcare access, urban regeneration, and the lack of robust public transport options.
McCreanor stressed that housing is one of the most pressing issues facing Louth residents, with rising rents and a dearth of affordable options causing hardship across the county. “Everyone deserves a place to call home,” he said, promising to push for policies that would prioritize the construction of affordable homes so that local families can remain in their communities.
Healthcare access is another key focus for McCreanor, who believes that “quality healthcare should not be a privilege but a right.” He has committed to advocating for increased healthcare funding and improvements to local services, ensuring that every Louth resident can access essential care without delay.
McCreanor also highlighted the importance of urban regeneration, an issue he believes is fundamental for revitalizing towns across Louth. “We need to breathe new life into Louth’s urban spaces,” he stated, pledging to work toward creating vibrant, community-focused areas that will attract both residents and local businesses.
On the topic of public transport, McCreanor underscored the need to improve accessibility in Louth, particularly in terms of reopening Dunleer’s train station, a project he deems essential to the region’s connectivity and growth.
Welcoming McCreanor’s selection, Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns voiced her confidence in his potential to serve as a dedicated representative for Louth. “Having met with Niall in Ardee earlier this year, I know that he cares passionately about Louth and the need to improve public services and the quality of life for people in the county,” she said. “As a committed community activist, Niall would be an exceptional TD for the people of Louth. I wish him every success with his election campaign in the weeks ahead.”
McCreanor’s campaign is anticipated to draw strong community support, reflecting his deep roots in Louth and commitment to addressing the region’s most pressing issues.
