Decision on Potters Field Development Expected This Month
Plans for a 47-home residential development in Ardee are moving forward, with Louth County Council set to make a decision later this month on a planning application for the proposed scheme at Potters Field, Cappocksgreen.
V & P Mathews Developments Ltd originally submitted the application in August 2024, seeking permission to build a mix of two-storey homes on a 1.27-hectare site. The development would consist of:
• 3 detached houses
• 32 semi-detached houses
• 12 terraced units
The proposal also includes landscaping and site development works to support the new housing scheme.
Planning Delays and Further Information Request
A decision on the application was initially expected in October 2024, but it was put on hold after Louth County Council requested further information from the developers. This process delayed progress, as officials sought clarifications and additional technical details before making their ruling.
On 27 January 2025, the council received Significant Further Information regarding the project. With submissions from the public now open until 9 February, a final decision on the Potters Field development is expected by 23 February 2025.
What’s Next for the Project?
If approved, the development would bring much-needed housing to Ardee, catering to growing demand in the area. However, it remains to be seen whether any further objections or conditions will be imposed by the local authority before construction can commence.
Residents and stakeholders will be watching closely as the council prepares to issue its final ruling later this month.
