PubSpy Gives Fair Green Bar and Landy’s Irish Harp a Thumbs Up: Both Pubs Score Three Pints Out of Five
Fair Green Bar and Landy’s Irish Harp
In a recent visit to Ardee, Sunday World’s PubSpy team explored two of the town’s popular drinking spots, Fair Green Bar and Landy’s Irish Harp, and both establishments earned a respectable three pints out of five.
The Fair Green Bar, though unassuming from the outside, proved to be a delightful surprise. PubSpy’s Young Commando quipped about the pub’s ancient nameplate, joking that it seemed “older than the fog.” However, the interior of the pub revealed a modern, spacious setting that quickly won them over. With its sleek grey leather barstools, bench seating, and four TVs, the Fair Green Bar offers a lively atmosphere that caters to a diverse crowd.
The bar also features gaming machines, a jukebox, and a nostalgic photo of the 1957 Louth football team from St Mary’s Ardee GAA club. A well-regarded rule of no kids after 7 PM was noted, though PubSpy humorously suggested a complete ban might be a touch extreme. As the evening progressed and the pub became busier, the team decided it was time to move on.
Their next stop, Landy’s Irish Harp, offered a more relaxed ambiance. PubSpy enjoyed the snug-style seating and admired the classic black and white film photographs adorning the walls. The bar’s timber floor and wine-colored swivel stools added to the cozy feel, while two large screen TVs provided entertainment. A framed GAA jersey sponsored by the pub was a proud feature beside the counter. The clean facilities and pleasant environment made for a comfortable visit.
