Ardee News and Sport – CúChulainn Archers had a weekend to remember, with a strong showing at the Muckamore Company of Archers Portsmouth Competition in Moira, Co. Down, and a bustling ‘Have-a-Go’ session in Drogheda for aspiring archers.

In Moira, six dedicated members of CúChulainn competed fiercely over two days, achieving impressive results to kick off the indoor season. Neil Keeble continued his stellar form in the Barebow Senior Men’s division, earning a Gold Medal and setting a new Northern Irish Record in the Portsmouth Round. JoAnn Bell took home Gold in the Master Female Compound, while Paul McClelland won Silver in the Master Male Compound. Siobhán Keeble secured Gold in the Master Barebow Female category, achieving a personal best score. Rounding out the club’s podium finishes, Peter Gilmore earned Bronze in Barebow Master Men, and Robert Hall won Bronze in the Compound Senior Men’s division.

Meanwhile, in Drogheda, the CúChulainn Archers’ coaches and members gathered at the O’Raghallaigh’s GAA club, their new training venue alongside the Redeemer Centre in Dundalk. Nearly 50 eager individuals of all ages attended the ‘Have-a-Go’ session, lining up for a chance to try archery and engage with coaches and experienced archers. Among them were some former archers, delighted to reconnect with the sport and thrilled to find a local club to join.

With beginner courses running throughout the year in Dundalk and Drogheda, CúChulainn Archers look forward to welcoming a new wave of archery enthusiasts, guiding them in the ancient art of archery.
