Residents Warned: Don’t Drink Discoloured Water During Repairs
Residents of Tallanstown, Louth Village, and Knockbridge are being advised not to drink discoloured water during essential works at the Mullacrew Reservoir on Monday, June 17.
While no disruption to water supply is expected, intermittent periods of discolouration may occur as the network recharges.
Uisce Éireann’s Peter Liggett reassured locals, stating, “Every effort will be made to minimize the impact of these necessary works and to restore normal water supplies quickly.” He noted that increased short-term instances of discoloured water may persist in isolated areas for up to 48 hours post-repair.
“We advise customers not to drink discoloured water. Running the tap for several minutes usually restores clarity. If issues persist, please contact us directly at 1800 278 278, available 24/7,” Liggett added. Queries can also be directed to @IWCare on X.
