The pitches of Ardee Rugby Club were alive with energy, laughter, and incredible rugby spirit Tuesday as the club hosted a Sun-Bleached Primary School Touch Rugby Blitz Day. In glorious sunshine, 35 teams of eager 5th and 6th class students from 9 local primary schools descended on the grounds to take part in an action-packed day of non-contact rugby.

The event was made all the more special thanks to the involvement of Ardee Community School Rugby students, with 5th Year and Transition Year referees keeping the games running smoothly and fairly. They were ably assisted by volunteers from Carlingford Knights RFC and Dundalk R.F.C. (Official), adding to the community feel of the day.

Fantastic rugby was played throughout, with teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun taking centre stage. The club extended a heartfelt thank you to all the parents, coaches, and Ardee RFC players who turned out to help on and off the pitch—from refereeing and managing teams to keeping everyone hydrated and fed in the clubrooms.

Special thanks were also given to Andy and Ardee Community School for providing the student referees, whose maturity and fairness brought a professional standard to the day’s games.

A big shout-out goes to all participating schools for their ongoing support of youth rugby. Events like these wouldn’t be possible without their commitment to sport and physical education.

For any children who felt inspired by the day and want to take their first steps into rugby, Ardee Rugby Club would love to welcome new players. Interested parents can WhatsApp 087 253 0979 for more information about joining.

With the sun blazing down and the tries flying in, today was a true showcase of everything grassroots rugby should be—fun, inclusive, and community-driven.
