Suspected Pipe Bomb Detonates Outside Ardee Home: Investigation Underway
Ardee News and Sport – Gardaí in Ardee are investigating an incident involving the detonation of a suspected pipe bomb outside a residence in Cuirt na hAbhann in the early hours of Tuesday, 22nd October.
At approximately 2:45am, Gardaí were alerted to the explosion, which caused damage to the front porch and door of the house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The residents of the property were evacuated, and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called to the scene. The EOD examined the suspected device and confirmed it to be a pipe bomb.
A technical examination of the site has since been completed by Garda forensic teams as part of the ongoing investigation.
Gardaí are now appealing to the public for any information that could aid the investigation. They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and are encouraging those with video footage, including dash-cam footage, to come forward.
