
Tragedy in Dunleer as Elderly Woman Dies After Collision with Bus

Tragedy as woman in her 80s died following a road traffic collision involving a bus in Dunleer, Co Louth on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:20pm on Lower Main Street, when the pedestrian was struck by a bus while walking in the area. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the woman was transported by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, as Gardaí continue their investigations and efforts to inform family members.
This heartbreaking incident follows a devastating weekend on Irish roads, during which four other women lost their lives in separate crashes across Counties Meath, Wexford, Clare, and Tyrone.
In Dunleer, Lower Main Street remains closed to facilitate a technical examination of the scene, with local diversions currently in place. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours as forensic investigators work to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
