In a series of dramatic rescues early this morning, emergency services in County Louth sprang into action to assist two women in distress.
The first incident occurred last night in Carlingford, where a woman fell from the pier near King John’s Castle around 8:30 PM. The fall happened during low tide, leaving her stranded in the mud. Fire and rescue teams from Dundalk and Carlingford, along with members of the Greenore Coast Guard, worked swiftly to reach her. After being safely extracted from the mud, the woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and subsequently transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Thankfully, her injuries were non-life threatening.
The second incident unfolded this morning along the Castletown River in Dundalk. A woman found herself in a precarious situation, stuck on mudflaps near the Applegreen service station on the Newry Road. Dundalk Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the call around 8:00 AM and were able to rescue her from her predicament.
