Assembling Local Heroes – Nominate a Volunteer Leader in Louth Today!

The Louth Volunteer Centre is calling on people across County Louth to recognise and celebrate those who go the extra mile to make their communities stronger — by nominating them for the Louth Volunteer Leader Awards 2025.

These awards aim to shine a light on the unsung heroes who dedicate their time, creativity, compassion, and energy to leading volunteer initiatives in towns and villages across the county. From local charities and tidy towns groups to youth clubs, festivals and community services, volunteer leaders are the backbone of Louth’s community spirit.

The celebration will take place on International Volunteer Managers Day, Wednesday, 5th November 2025, at Castlebellingham, supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Recognising the Heart of Community Leadership

The awards are designed to honour the people whose leadership allows others to thrive — those who bring together volunteers from all walks of life, guide them through challenges, and keep projects running smoothly behind the scenes.

“Volunteers in leadership positions inspire others to become more involved and take on leadership roles themselves, fostering a stronger, more connected community,” said Kayleigh Mulligan, Manager at Louth Volunteer Centre.

“Creating a ripple effect of positive change within the county — that’s what true leadership looks like,” she added.

Ms. Mulligan praised the dedication of local leaders across Louth, from Drogheda to Dundalk and Ardee, for their tireless commitment to the people and places they serve.

“We at Louth Volunteer Centre are so proud of all the locals, both young and old, men and women, who take charge of volunteer initiatives that bring people together and showcase the very best of Louth’s community spirit,” she said.

Keeping Louth’s Spirit of Volunteering Alive

Louth’s communities thrive thanks to the leadership of people who volunteer not for recognition, but out of love for their community. The Volunteer Leader Awards aim to give these individuals the spotlight they deserve.

Their ability to unite others, organise activities, and uplift their communities reflects the very best of what volunteering means in Ireland today.

“Our communities wouldn’t be the same without them,” said Ms. Mulligan.

“It’s time we let them know how much their efforts are valued.”
