Dundalk Schoolboys League’s Under-15 Representative squad wrapped up an unforgettable journey at the 2025 Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, having delivered a series of thrilling performances and showcasing Irish football talent on the global stage.
Seven players from Ardee Celtic’s Under-16 squad proudly lined out for the Dundalk Schoolboys League team at the Gothia Cup: Oran Lynch, Danny Leavy, Aaron Lynch, Daire Reilly, Nathan Donnelly, Oisín Kellett, and Thomas Quinlivan. Each of them played their part in a spirited team performance that not only impressed on the pitch but captured the admiration of spectators from around the world.
Dundalk Schoolboys League played Football to Remember
The squad lit up the tournament with exhilarating football, netting over 20 goals across multiple matches, and winning praise for their teamwork, skill, and fighting spirit. The Ardee players made vital contributions, with Thomas Quinlivan grabbing several crucial goals, Oran Lynch commanding the midfield, and Danny Leavy showing strength in defence.
Each match brought intensity and drama—from a seven-goal thriller against Athletico SC to commanding performances in the group stages. Although Dundalk Schoolboys League narrowly missed out on further progression in the knockout rounds, their presence was felt throughout the tournament.
The World Youth Cup Experience
The Gothia Cup, known as The World Youth Cup, brings together teams from over 80 countries, providing a platform for young players to compete, learn, and create lifelong memories.
“This has been the experience of a lifetime for the boys,” said a member of the coaching staff.
