Ardee Water Supply Disruption as Uisce Éireann Crews Repair Burst
By ArdeePost Reporter
Uisce Éireann has confirmed that repair crews are on site in Ardee this afternoon after a major water main burst disrupted supply to households and businesses across the town.
James O’Hagan of Uisce Éireann assured customers that every effort is being made to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” he said.
Repairs are expected to be completed by 6pm this evening. However, Uisce Éireann has advised that it can typically take two to three hours after repairs for supply to fully return across the network. Homes and businesses located on higher ground or at the end of the supply line may experience longer delays as the system recharges.
For the safety of the public and work crews, traffic management measures have been put in place on the N2 while repair works continue.
Ardee Aging Water Main to Be Replaced
The burst has once again highlighted the challenges posed by Ardee’s aging water infrastructure. The affected water main has already been earmarked for replacement as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme.
Site investigations were recently completed at John Street and the N2, with design work now underway. Uisce Éireann has confirmed that construction works to replace the problematic main are scheduled to begin before the end of the year.
