Ardee’s Taaffe Firewood Honoured at WFQA AGM 2025
At the recent Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) Wood Fuel Quality Assurance (WFQA) Scheme Annual General Meeting 2025, held at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, local business owner Barry Taaffe of Taaffe Firewood, Ardee, Co. Louth, proudly received his WFQA annual certification.
Cyclopath Bicycle Education has announced the rollout of its subsidised cycling safety and confidence programmes to primary schools across Louth, Meath, East Cavan, South Monaghan, and North County Dublin.The WFQA Scheme plays a vital role in supporting Ireland’s transition to sustainable energy sources. It ensures that wood fuel suppliers across the country meet the highest standards for quality, sustainability, and compliance with the new Solid Fuel Regulations for wood fuels. These regulations are designed to reduce emissions, promote cleaner air, and provide consumers with confidence in the quality of their purchased fuels.
The Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) manages and administers the WFQA Scheme, maintaining strict standards for certification and providing ongoing support to its nationwide network of suppliers. Members like Taaffe Firewood exemplify the importance of local businesses contributing to national sustainability goals through responsible fuel production and supply.
Speaking at the event, WFQA representatives praised certified suppliers for their continued dedication to best practices and environmental responsibility within the renewable energy sector.
