Preventing Car and Vehicle Theft
To protect your vehicle and reduce the risk of theft, follow these essential steps:
1. Always Lock Your Vehicle
• Ensure all doors, windows, and sunroofs are closed and locked, even if parked on your driveway or filling up at a station.
• Vehicles with folding wing mirrors should always be checked, as unfolded mirrors can signal an unlocked car.
2. Secure Your Keys
• Store keys out of sight and away from front doors to prevent “hook-and-stick” thefts.
• Avoid handing keys to strangers or leaving them unattended during sales or inspections.
3. Protect Keyless Entry Vehicles
• Keep key fobs away from your vehicle and use a Faraday Bag to block wireless signals.
• Regularly check your signal-blocking pouch for effectiveness.
• Reprogram keys when purchasing a second-hand car.
• Disable the wireless signal on your key fob when not in use.
Stay Alert
Residents are reminded to keep an eye on their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior immediately. By working together, we can help prevent vehicle-related crimes in our community.
Stay safe and secure! 🛡️
