Aer Lingus Pilots Approve 17.75% Pay Increase, Ending Protracted Industrial Dispute

Aer Lingus pilots have overwhelmingly voted to accept a 17.75% pay increase as recommended by the Labour Court, effectively resolving the prolonged industrial dispute that had led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights. The members of the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) showed strong support for the pay rise, with 85% of voting members in favor of the agreement.

This decision follows IALPA’s earlier move to suspend their work-to-rule action in light of the Labour Court’s proposal and the pending ballot results. The substantial approval from the pilots signals a significant step towards restoring normalcy for Aer Lingus and its operations.

In a brief statement, Aer Lingus expressed its satisfaction with the outcome. “We welcome the outcome of the ballot which has accepted the Labour Court recommendation,” the airline stated, reflecting relief and optimism for the future stability and cooperation with its pilots.

The acceptance of this pay increase marks the end of a contentious period for Aer Lingus, promising a more harmonious relationship between the airline and its pilots moving forward.
