There was cause for celebration in Ardee this week as local man Robert McKeever, a dedicated member of the Cornerstones team, was honoured with the prestigious title of Support Worker of the Year at the Praxis Care Annual Staff Awards.

Robert’s recognition comes as a tribute to his outstanding commitment, compassion, and creativity in empowering the people he supports — helping them live more independently and play an active role in their community.

The Praxis Care Awards, held annually, recognise the achievements of staff across Ireland, the UK, and the Isle of Man, celebrating excellence in care and innovation in service delivery. This year’s event highlighted the vital contribution of frontline workers who make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental ill health.

A Champion of Empowerment and Inclusion

Robert’s work at Cornerstones, Ardee, has been widely praised by colleagues and service users alike. Known for his empathetic approach and commitment to teamwork, he focuses on enabling individuals to gain confidence, learn new skills, and become more active participants in their local community.

“Robert exemplifies the values of Praxis Care — compassion, integrity, and empowerment,” said a spokesperson for the organisation. “His dedication goes beyond everyday support; he works alongside the people he cares for, helping them discover their potential and achieve their goals.”

Celebrating Excellence in Care

Praxis Care is one of Ireland and the UK’s leading care charities, supporting thousands of individuals through residential, supported living, and community-based programmes. The annual awards serve as an opportunity to recognise staff members who go the extra mile to ensure that those in their care are supported with dignity, respect, and encouragement.

Now holding the title of Support Worker of the Year, Robert says he is both humbled and proud to receive the award, emphasising that the recognition is “a reflection of the whole team’s effort.”

“I’m very grateful to work alongside such supportive colleagues and inspiring individuals,” he said. “This award really belongs to everyone at Cornerstones and to the people we support — they’re the reason we do what we do.”
