Moate CS Exit Leinster After Defeat to Superior Ardee CS

Ardee CS side control the game from the 11th minute at Hunterstown

Moate Community School’s Leinster Colleges Senior Football ‘A’ Championship journey came to an end last Thursday afternoon, 4 December, when they were defeated by a sharp and well-organised Ardee Community School side at Hunterstown Rovers GAA grounds in Co. Louth.

Ardee CS Take Control Early

In a tightly contested opening spell, Moate CS held firm and matched Ardee CS stride for stride. However, the balance shifted in the 11th minute when Ardee struck the game’s opening breakthrough score. From that moment, the Louth school seized control, and Moate found themselves chasing the contest for the remainder of the afternoon.

Ardee’s early advantage proved decisive. Their ability to win primary possession, break quickly, and apply sustained pressure forced Moate onto the back foot, preventing the Westmeath side from ever recovering the deficit.

Moate Battle Hard but Trail Throughout

Despite the setback, Moate CS showed resilience and determination, working tirelessly to close the gap. Their midfield battled gamely, and the forwards carved out several promising attacks. But Ardee’s defensive structure stood strong, repeatedly cutting out Moate’s approach play and breaking at pace.

Each time Moate threatened to build momentum, Ardee responded with maturity and composure, managing the game effectively and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. While Moate landed some fine scores of their own, they were never able to reel their opponents back in.

Ardee CS Strength and Depth Prove the Difference

Although the margin between the teams was not large, Ardee CS demonstrated a slight but clear superiority across the pitch. Their bench provided impact, their forwards were clinical when chances arose, and their work rate off the ball consistently disrupted Moate’s rhythm.

Moate’s players continued to fight until the final whistle, showing heart, discipline, and flashes of quality. But Ardee CS, confident and composed after taking the lead, simply refused to relinquish their advantage.

Moate Look Ahead With Pride

While the defeat brings Moate CS’s campaign to an early close, there is pride to be taken from the effort, commitment, and teamwork shown throughout their Leinster run. With many young players stepping up and valuable experience gained at Senior ‘A’ level, the school’s football prospects remain bright.

Ardee CS, meanwhile, progress to the next stage of the Leinster Colleges Senior ‘A’ Championship, buoyed by a performance that showcased their strength, discipline, and ambition.mance, but for the people and community it serves every day.
