Emergency services were called to the scene on Georges Street, Drogheda, at approximately 8:15 pm, after reports of a fire at the property. Gardaí were alerted by members of the Louth Fire Service, who had responded swiftly to control the blaze. Initial reports suggested that the fire may have been caused by fireworks, but following a detailed investigation, An Garda Síochána has confirmed that the fire was started deliberately. All occupants of the building were safely evacuated. Several individuals received medical assessments at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.
