CúChulainn Archers Shine in a Series of Prestigious Competitions
Ardee News and Sport – Members of CúChulainn Archers have delivered outstanding performances across multiple competitions, showcasing their skill and determination on the national and international archery stage.
Impressive Debut at the SIFA Indoor Championships
For the first time, CúChulainn Archers participated in the Society of Irish Field Archers (SIFA) Indoor Championships at Florence Court, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. Hosted by Marble Archers, this popular competition saw every category fully booked, with CúChulainn fielding 11 archers and achieving remarkable results:
• Barebow Women:
🥇 Gold – Siobhán Keeble
🥈 Silver – Adria Quinn (transitioning from Compound)
• Master Men Barebow:
🥇 Gold – Peter Gilmore
• Compound Men:
🥇 Gold – Alan Convery
🥈 Silver – Philip Fitzpatrick
🥉 Bronze – Fiachra Judge
4th – Niall Bradley
• Compound Master Men:
🥇 Gold – Gilbert McClelland
• Barebow Men:
🥈 Silver – Neil Keeble
4th – Éamonn Rogers (normally a Compound archer)
5th – Michael Mullooly
The team left Enniskillen proud of their accomplishments and eager to return for future competitions.
Record-Breaking Wins at the Christmas Jumper Shoot
Next, the archers competed in the festive-themed Christmas Jumper Shoot, a World Record Status combined WA 18m/WA 25m competition, hosted by Muckamore Company of Archers and the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) Archery Club.
• Darrel Wilson: 🥇 Gold Medal and four records (two Northern Irish Records and two Irish National Records), reclaiming two records previously held by teammate Éamonn Rogers.
• Mark Young (Master Barebow Men): 🥇 Gold Medal
Success at the Irish Open Indoor Championships 2024
The final competition saw CúChulainn Archers travel to Gormanstown, Co. Meath for the Irish Open Indoor Championships 2024, where the club’s archers continued their medal haul:
• Compound Senior Men:
🥉 Bronze – Alan Convery
Paul McClelland was eliminated in a dramatic one-arrow shoot-off in the 1/8 finals, and Philip Fitzpatrick exited in the quarter-finals.
• Compound Senior Women:
🥉 Bronze – JoAnn Bell, competing despite wearing a medical boot due to four broken bones and ligament damage.
• Compound Master Men:
🥈 Silver – Alan Convery, after losing the final in a one-arrow shoot-off by a single point.
🥉 Bronze – Paul McClelland, defeating teammate Philip Fitzpatrick in the Bronze medal match.
• Master Women:
🥇 Gold – JoAnn Bell, adding to her inspiring performance.
• Team Events:
🥇 Gold – Compound Senior Men (Alan Convery, Paul McClelland, and Philip Fitzpatrick)
🥉 Bronze – Compound Mixed Team (Alan Convery and JoAnn Bell)
