Drogheda to Host National Services Day 2024: A Celebration of Local Heroes
Drogheda is set to take center stage once again as it proudly hosts National Services Day 2024 on Saturday, September 14th, building on the overwhelming success of last year’s spectacular event. This vibrant celebration, which drew hundreds to the streets of Drogheda, honors the dedicated emergency and security services that safeguard our communities every day.
Ireland’s frontline, emergency, and security personnel work tirelessly to protect the public, often under the most challenging conditions. National Services Day offers a unique opportunity for these professionals to connect with the community and express their gratitude for the unwavering public support.
In attendance on the day will be the Louth County Fire Service, National Ambulance Service (NAS), Order of Malta Ireland – Ambulance Corps – Drogheda, An Garda Síochána, Irish Coast Guard, Irish Red Cross, Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery, Blood Bike South, An Garda Síochána Louth, Louth Civil Defence, and RNLI.
The organizers encourage everyone from Drogheda and the surrounding areas to come out and support this fantastic day of celebration—a true tribute to our local heroes.
National Services Day Programme of Events:
• 11:00 am: Family Entertainment on West Street
• 12:00 pm: National Services Day Parade
• 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Emergency Service Display Village at Drogheda Quays (Drogheda Port) – Meet local heroes and check out life-saving equipment.
• 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Entertainment Zone at Scotch Hall Shopping Centre – Live music, funfair rides, face painting, and family fun.
Please note that rolling road closures will be in effect from 10 am to 2 pm on the day.
