Dundalk and Drogheda United League Fixtures Rescheduled Due to St Pat’s European Success
St Patrick’s Athletic’s upcoming league fixtures against Dundalk and Drogheda United have been rescheduled following the team’s impressive progress in the Europa Conference League. The announcement, made this afternoon by the league, comes as the Inchicore side prepares for a busy period in European competition.
The away trip to Oriel Park, originally scheduled for Friday evening, will now take place on Sunday, 25th August, with a 3pm kick-off. Similarly, St Pat’s home game against Drogheda United, initially set for a midweek slot, has been moved to Sunday, 1st September, also with a 3pm kick-off.
These changes come after Stephen Kenny’s side secured their place in the next round of the Europa Conference League by defeating Azerbaijani club Sabah 2-0 on aggregate. St Pat’s will now face Turkish giants Istanbul Basaksehir in a two-legged tie, with the first leg set to be played at Richmond Park next Wednesday.
The league’s decision to accommodate St Pat’s European run reflects the importance of their continued success on the continental stage. The Inchicore club’s progress follows Shamrock Rovers’ advance in the Europa League, which has also led to fixture adjustments, including the rescheduling of next week’s Dublin derby against Bohemians to Sunday morning at 11:30am, due to a concert in Croke Park.
