Dundalk Schoolboys League top Group 28 after 0-0 draw

Dundalk Schoolboys League secured top spot in Group 28 of the Gothia Cup B15 category after a tense 0-0 draw against Swedish hosts Sandarna BK2 on Wednesday afternoon in Gothenburg.

Heading into the final group match, both teams were level on six points, making this encounter a decider for group dominance. With local supporters turning out in strong numbers and both squads unbeaten, the stage was set for a high-stakes showdown — and the match didn’t disappoint in terms of intensity.

From the first whistle, it was clear that neither side was willing to concede an inch. Dundalk pressed high and maintained their shape well, while Sandarna BK looked dangerous on the break. Despite several promising attacking moves, the game remained goalless through the first half, with both defences holding firm and goalkeepers largely untested.

In the second half, tempers began to flare. Sandarna’s Elias Sjödal was shown a yellow card in the 42nd minute for persistent fouling, followed by a booking for Edvin Wålemark in the 50th minute after a clumsy challenge in midfield. Dundalk kept their composure throughout and controlled large spells of possession, but couldn’t find the breakthrough goal.

Though the match ended scoreless, the result saw both teams finish the group stage with 7 points, but Dundalk Schoolboys League claimed top spot thanks to their superior goal difference of +8 — a testament to their earlier dominant displays in the group.

With the group stage now behind them, Dundalk advance to the Play off A round, where they will face Greek side Makedonikos FC 2 on Thursday, July 17th at 10:20 AM. Fans can watch the action live at:

Having yet to concede a goal in the tournament, Dundalk will go into the knockout stages full of confidence, determined to keep their unbeaten streak alive and continue their journey toward Gothia Cup glory.
