Dundalk Maintain First Division Lead After Hard-Fought Victory

Eoin Kenny’s goal 12 minutes from time secured a vital 2-1 comeback win for Dundalk against Longford Town at Oriel Park, keeping them at the summit of the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division table.

Ciarán Kilduff’s side faced their first deficit of the season when Daragh Murtagh struck for the visitors in the 18th minute. However, Dean Ebbe equalized from the penalty spot 11 minutes later, and despite sustained pressure, Dundalk struggled to break down Longford’s defense.

It wasn’t until the 78th minute that Dundalk finally found the winner, with substitute Andy Paraschiv delivering a brilliant assist for 19-year-old Kenny to convert from close range—securing three crucial points against the club where his father, Stephen Kenny, launched his managerial career in 1998.

Despite a second penalty opportunity before halftime, which Ebbe failed to capitalize on, Dundalk dominated possession and ultimately found the breakthrough to extend their lead at the top of the table.
