Fatal Collision in Annagassan: One Dead, One Seriously Injured

One person has died and another has been seriously injured in a road crash on the R166 at The Lynns, Annagassan, County Louth, around 9 AM this morning.

The collision involved two vehicles. The driver of the first car, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the Mortuary in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the second car, a woman in her 40s, was airlifted by Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116 to the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where she is being treated for serious injuries. Coast Guard units from Clogherhead and Howth also responded to the incident.

The road remains closed for several hours to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene, with traffic diversions in place.
